Tanker Semi-Trailers
Fuel, water and chemical tanker semi-trailers, including aluminium alloy bodies.
- Aluminium alloy three-axle variant available
- Fuel, water and general liquid service
- Compartment layout confirmed per cargo
- Fittings matched to destination regulations
Tanker semi-trailers are supplied for fuel, water and general liquid cargo. An aluminium alloy three-axle variant is available where tare weight matters.
Compartment arrangement, material and fittings are confirmed against the cargo and local regulations before quotation.

Specifying a tanker semi-trailer
Tanker specification starts with the product, not the volume. What is being carried decides the material, the compartment layout, the discharge method and the safety equipment, and those four decisions constrain the capacity far more than the chassis does. A tanker built for the wrong product is difficult and expensive to convert later.
What determines the build
- Product type — fuel, water, edible oil, chemicals and powder each require different materials and lining.
- Compartment count — multiple compartments allow several products per trip but reduce usable volume and add piping complexity.
- Material and lining — stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium behave differently with corrosive or food-grade cargo.
- Discharge method — gravity, pump or pneumatic discharge changes the fittings, the manhole layout and the operating procedure.
Safety equipment is not optional
Fuel and chemical tankers require fittings that are specified by regulation rather than by preference: emergency shut-off, grounding, flame arresters and appropriate baffling. These are confirmed against the regulations of the destination country, because the requirements differ between markets. Buyers who treat safety equipment as an optional extra usually find the unit cannot be registered at destination.
Capacity, weight and legal limits
Usable capacity is limited by the legal gross weight at destination once the tare weight of the tanker is subtracted. A larger tank does not automatically mean more payload, and in some markets a lighter tanker carries more product than a heavier one with greater nominal volume. This calculation is done before the tank size is fixed.
Frequently asked questions
Can one tanker carry different products?
Only where the compartments and lining are compatible with each product and cleaning between loads is practical. Multi-compartment tankers are built for this, but food-grade and chemical cargo usually require separate units.
Stainless steel or carbon steel?
Stainless steel suits food-grade and corrosive cargo and needs less lining maintenance. Carbon steel is adequate for water and some fuels and costs less, but it requires internal protection against corrosion.
How is the right tank size calculated?
Start from the legal gross weight at destination, subtract the trailer tare weight, and the remainder is the payload available. Tank volume then follows from the density of the product being carried.
